Conceptional : The Troll
Selection of conceptional drawings of atroll, formerly an ogre. The idea was to develop
a creature that would be put into 3D for use in something like a Next-Generation-Console-Game. Friends of mine, specialised in modeling, asked me for a design
which they could use for a job-appliance
The enormous level of detail in a real-time character should be achieved
with a medium high-res model and the use of normal-maps in Z-Brush.
Not my concern yet. I suggested a marker sketch I did a while before.

The complete development is documented with many more drawings at cgtalk.com, covering about six pages:

What followed was a process of experimenting with the general shape and into the detail,
adding color and structure.

In the end I tried various poses with the creature to emphasise bodybuild and give an idea for a way to animate the 3D model.

Cool design, reminds me of the type of thing that could be seen in 2000AD's 'Slaine' that Simon Bisley amongst others used to draw !
Thanks, I was a big 'Slaine' fan, I think I know what creature you mean. A pitty there hasn't been much new Bisley things lately!
